Below is a detailed description of our  K-12  program.

Tapping the Innately Youthful Spirit of Jazz
Reptet, an original jazz sextet from Seattle, is either the perfect introduction or a further exploration of jazz for students of all ages. Students can learn not only about the tradition of jazz, but also how the music is moving forward. They have established themselves as a group of considerable excitement, talent and vision while simultaneously debunking preconceived notions of what a jazz group ought to be. They perform original compositions exclusively and their music has been universally well-received.

Their 2006 release, “Do This!” received rave reviews from critics worldwide, three of whom chose it as a top CD of 2006, #1 in Jazziz, #3 in Melbourne Herald Sun (Australia) and #9 in Jazz Times. Their brand new record “Chicken or Beef?” was released in May 2008. The audible palate from which they draw is broad and colorful, and students learn how other music (including rock, salsa, hip hop, and reggae) is influencing modern jazz. All presentations include a live performance and discussion; more detailed instruction can be included in a workshop setting. Presentations are modified based on the age and skill-level or musical background.
